Starting 2013, Valve reached out to the Dota 2 community for its first-ever crowdfunded prize pool for The International 3 through its Compendium. With it came rewards, stretch goals and more for Dota 2 fans, whether they enjoyed the esports aspect of it or not. Since then, it’s grown from a humble $2,874,380 USD into a massive $24 million during last year’s The International 7.
Valve has evolved the Compendium into the Battle Pass, offering months of new content, cool cosmetics, game modes and more. Once again, of course, fans are ready to give their all to unlock items and rewards, plus send Valve and competitive players their warm regards by helping fund the prize pool for The International 8.
This year’s Battle Pass is as promising as ever, with two new game modes, plenty of Immortals, a new queue option or more. Be sure to stay tuned as we travel through the many facets of a fan favorite event.
If you’re just interested in the main event coming this August, we’re keeping you up to date on The International as well.
