Gabe Newell shares how Io carries his items

The Valve founder himself briefly commented on the Dota 2 hero, who is literally just a floating ball of light.

Gabe Newell’s influence knows no bounds. As the founder of Valve, one of the largest video gaming companies in the world, he is the Word of God on all things Valve — including Dota 2. And every year, he even attends The International and asks for direct feedback about the event, directly to his inbox: Gaben, at Valve Software, dot com.

So one curious had an extremely pressing question about a certain controversial Dota 2 character, Io, the beautiful gosh-darned ball of light:

How does he wear or hold his boots?

To be fair, it’s a perfectly valid question. I mean, Io is literally a ball of light:

You’re expected to wear and upgrade boots on every hero. So with Io being a Wisp and also a Fundamental of the universe and all, we’re sure there’s a perfectly legitimate lore purpose, right?

Apparently, Gabe Newell cares for none of that. When Dota 2 fan and Redditor BP_Goldilox emailed Newell, he replied simply:

He keeps them in his pants pocket.

You know what?

That’s fine. We’re not going to question this. Io wears pants, and it’s well within his right to do so. Heck, I’m even going to campaign for an Arcana for this now. Gabe please.

We’re going to just cap this extremely informational article with this adorable response drawing by Redditor aggibridges:
