The second and final team from North America to attend The International will be Digital Chaos. Formerly known as Team Onyx, they defeated the seemingly-unbeatable Team Freedom in a clean 3-0 sweep to take the victory.
The current iteration of DC is not to be confused with that of the finals of The International 6. The TI6 lineup moved into an unaffiliated group, Thunderbirds, between their time at DC and their current affiliation with Planet Odd. Unfortunately, this group was eliminated by compLexity in the early stages of the double-elimination bracket.
The new squad doesn’t mean anything less for DC’s strength; it’s full of veteran players from around the globe. Mason Venne, or just “mason,” was part of Evil Geniuses in 2014, and Kanishka (or “Sam”) “BuLba” Sosale, has been playing since the Warcraft III days.
The only fresh face at The International will be Abed Azel L. Yusop, or “Abed,” who recently became the first ranked player to hit a ranking of 10k. The other two players, Kim “DuBu” Doo-young and Lee “Forev” Sang-don, are both Koreans who played for TI-attending MVP teams, switching between the Hot6 and Phoenix squads.
This mix of international talent will find its way to The International to try to represent another North American victory.
