iG.Vitality take first China qualifier spot for The International 7

Despite a rough season, they overcame top-ranking teams to earn their place in Seattle.

IG.Vitality, the sister squad of Invictus Gaming, have impressively taken the first spot in China’s regional qualifiers for The International 7. They took a strong 7-2 victory in the round robin stages to take one of three slots available for Chinese teams; the other two will be determined in Phase 2.

The region was considered stacked, with some of the best teams in the country fighting through the qualifiers. Unfortunately, many favorites for the main event, including VG.J and EHOME, have already been dropped from the round robins due to their performance.

IG.Vitality itself had a mixed season. Their top recent finish was a 3rd-4th finish in ZOTAC Cup Masters; before then, they qualified for the Kiev Major, but fell in the first round of the main event.

Now, the team has the opportunity to prove yet again that they can make a name for themselves. They’ll join Newbee and the main Invictus Gaming, plus the other two teams yet to be determined, in Seattle early August.
